Abstract:
Thermal structural Integrated Thermal Protection System (ITPS) is more efficient than typical TPS because of its’ load carrying capability. Recently, several ITPS concepts including thermally integrated corrugated core sandwich panel and its improved concept, rigid insulation bar ITPS, and hierarchical sandwich panel ITPS have been developed. In this paper characteristics of different ITPS concepts are presented firstly, and the corresponding heat short effects and mechanical property are analyzed. Then homogenization analysis and efficient thermo mechanical analysis method of ITPS are briefly summarized. Next, structural optimization and material selection method of ITPS under coupled thermo mechanical constraints are presented, followed by a discussion on uncertainty analysis of ITPS. Base on trends revealed by these works, several areas for future research are specified.
