Rapid Precise Orbit Determination for Haiyang 2A Using On Board GPS Data

Abstract:

Based on zero-difference dynamics method by using ultra-rapid ephemeris products IGU offered by the International GNSS Service Organizations (IGS) and SHU offered by the GNSS Data Analysis Center of Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO), the study of rapid precise orbit determination for satellite HY2A is carried out to satisfy the relevant requirements. The results show that, compared with the reference precise orbit provided by the French Centre National d’Etudes Spatiales (CNES), the rapid orbit with centimeter-level radial accuracy can be achieved by using the combination of ultra-rapid SHU and IGU predicted ephemeris products. At the same time, the satellite laser ranging (SLR) validation shows the orbit RMS of SHU and IGU predicted ephemeris along the station-satellite direction is 2.9cm and 4.8cm respectively. In conclusion, it is possible to obtain rapid orbits with centimeter-level precision by using the combination of SHU and IGU predicted ephemeris products. This demonstrates the application prospects of HY2A for oceanic environmental monitoring and hazard early-warning.
