Investigation on Internal Natural Convection of Stratospheric Airship

In this paper a thermal model of stratospheric airship is established, considering the effects of solar radiation, infrared radiation and convective heat transfer. Based on this, a simulation program is developed, and the skin temperature distribution is obtained. Taking the skin temperature distribution as the boundary condition, the internal natural convective heat transfer of a stratospheric airship is simulated using the software of Fluent. In different seasons and times, the flow characteristics, temperature distribution and heat transfer coefficient of the internal natural convection are calculated and analyzed. Compared to the simulation results, the Eckert-Jackson and Bayley correlations predict well for calculating the internal natural convective heat transfer coefficient of stratospheric airships, with the mean absolute deviation (MAD) of 22.6% and 24.1%, respectively.
