Abstract:

Aiming at the characteristics of the hypersonic target interceptions, the capture regions of the proportional navigation (PN) and the retro-proportional navigation (RPN) are analyzed. Firstly, the zeroing effort interception conditions of the head-pursuit and head-on scenarios are derived by analyzing the relative motion between the interceptor and the target, which are determined by the interceptor velocity leading angle, the target velocity leading angle, and their velocity ratio. Secondly, with the interceptor velocity leading angle and the target velocity leading angle serving as the coordinates, the capture regions and the navigation ratio ranges of PN and RPN are derived. The capture region of PN is composed of the head-on zeroing effort interception condition and two tangential lines with the slope of 1/(N-1), and the capture region of RPN is composed of the head-pursuit zeroing effort interception condition and two tangential lines with the slope of 1/(-N-1). Thirdly, by transforming the capture regions of PN and RPN to the same coordinate ranges based on the function’s symmetry, the conclusion is made that the capture region of RPN is bigger than that of PN under the same condition. Finally, four different simulation scenarios are carried out whose results testify the rationality and effectiveness of the capture region analysis.
