Design and Verification of Automatic Loading Equipment for  Solar Array with Compression Rod

Abstract: Based on the research on the current situation and existing problems of preloading of solar array compression release mechanism at home and abroad, a miniaturized, lightweight and visual design of the equipment is carried out, and a force feedback automatic loading device driven by an electric motor is developed. The equipment adopts a special clamping interface, and uses the cam principle to solve the clamping problem of the compression rod in a narrow space; it adopts a tension sensor and a force feedback system to control the pre tightening force of the solar array compression rod with an accuracy within 5%, which effectively solves the problem of precision and automatic preloading. In order to verify the performance of the equipment, a pre tightening force error analysis is carried out, a set of real time measurement schemes using resistance strain gauges is designed,and the change of the pre tightening force during equipment operation is obtained. The test results show that the automatic loading equipment is not affected by the skill level of the personnel, the maximum absolute accuracy is 3.11%, and the single loading time is less than 1 min.
