Translation Compensation and Micro\|Doppler Extraction of Ballistic Target in Midcourse

Abstract: The high velocity translation of ballistic targets will subject Micro\|Doppler to translation, slope and fold. To compensate the translation of ballistic targets, a method based on Doppler extremum is proposed. Mathematics of Doppler extremum is derived on the basis that translation is approximated to a polynomial motion and the micro\|motion is equivalent to a coning motion. Translation is compensated and micro\|Doppler is extracted according to the parameters estimated by LS parameter identification method. Simulation results indicate that micro\|Doppler can be effectively extracted through translation compensation method in the paper.
