Abstract:

A lossless data hiding transmission method for satellite remote sensing image based on histogram modification is proposed in this paper for lower rate data transmission on board. The proposed scheme modifies adjacent pixel difference histogram of high rate remote sensing image. Then lower rate data are embeded into original cover remote sensing image. Finally, the stego image is transmitted to earth station by a satellite data transmission system. The original cover image can be recovered without any distortion after the hidden data have been extracted correctly at a terrestrial station. With this scheme, the
utilization rate of the satellite data transmission system is improved without increasing its complexity, and the concealment of data transmission is enhanced when the data transmission rate is kept unchanged at the same time. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme can achieve high pure payload embedding capacity while keeping the distortion low. Performance comparisons with other existing lossless data hiding schemes are provided to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed scheme in peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and the embedding capacity.
