Abstract: A four-impulse far-range rendezvous strategy for an on-orbit servicing mission of geostationary orbit satellites is proposed, which ensures the far-range rendezvous can be completed within 5 revolutions. A three-impulse phasing scheme is designed by an optimal algorithms, which is based on the near-circular deviation equations. Firstly, using the fixed positions of the first and second phasing impulses, the velocity increments of the three phasing impulses and the position of the third one are optimized. Then, fixing the first phasing impulse, the velocity increments and positions of the second and third phasing impulses are optimized again. Through improving the classical optimal scheme based on the near-circular deviation equations, an excellent phasing performance is achieved. In order to modify the orbit plane, a vertical impulse is executed on the cross line between the two orbits. Finally, the efficiency of the far-range maneuver strategy is validated by a simulation.
